That means that Brazil, the 1985 science fiction fantasy black comedy film directed by ex-Python Terry Gilliam, is going ahead tomorrow (Sunday, 5 December 2008) at 7:30 PM. Gillliam co-write the film with Tom Stoppard and Charles McKeown, and all three were nominated for an Academy award.

With dazzling visual effects and stunning sets, Terry Gilliam’s classic Brazil (opportunely set at Christmas time) is definitely one to watch on the big screen. It’s difficult to capture much of the essence of this remarkable film with mere words but whether seeing it for the first time or revisiting it if you’re a die-hard fan, it will take your breath away.

Jonathan Pryce and Robert De Niro lead a cast of many familiar faces including Michael Palin, Bob Hoskins, Jim Broadbent, Ian Holm and, of course, Terry Gilliam.

You can book tickets online. See you there!

Sunday 25 July 2010, 12 onwards

Trinity Arts Centre Gardens (Church Road)

We’ve joined forces with Trinity and local residents in organising a picnic for regular twuddlers and twuttlers, as well as their friends and family – no school to worry about and lots of room to run around safely!

Bring your own picnic and share – although Divinity Cafe will be there as usual and in addition I am told a Pimms tent has been organised from 2 o’clock by the Trinity Theatre Company to coincide with the run of its summer play, the Oscar Wilde classic The Importance of Being Earnest.

Just claim a spot, put down your picnic blanket, and make yourself at home. No fighting over the picnic tables that have been recently installed in the garden!

See you there!
