bookclub Monday Night Bookclub

UPDATE: Due to popular demand, the bookclub will now start from 7pm rather than 7.30. All other details remain the same. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 13th!

For all those who love reading, here’s a date for your diaries… the first ‘Monday Night Bookclub’ at Divinty Café (in association with Twuddle) will be held on the 13th September (a Monday of course!) from 7.30pm. All welcome.

book Monday Night BookclubFor the first meet, we’ve chosen a book to get us all going – The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters (ISBN978-1-84408-606-1). For this first book, you’ll need to either borrow it from the library or buy a copy. In the future we will be able to arrange a group order via TW library and/or get a group discount at Waterstones for chosen titles.

The intention for future meetings is for one person to choose the next book. We will take it in turns to choose – hopefully ensuring a wide variety of books for us to read as the months go by.

And here’s the special bit… each meeting, not only are we going to chat about the book, drink the lovely tea, coffee wine or beer (available from Divinity Café), we plan to have something naughty to eat! A special dessert. Please register your interest by leaving a comment below so we can work out numbers for the dessert. To cover dessert costs, we’ll collect a nominal sum from you on the night – it won’t be much we promise! Otherwise the event is completely free and open to all.

The ‘Monday Night Bookclub’ will be held monthly. For more information contact Laura Goode on 07788 794831 or on email: laura@hophousedesign.co.uk.

Laura: is the event open to men? (I’ve been asked).

  2. Laura Goode says:

Mike: Yes, of course. All are welcome.

  3. Yvonne (EvthingCupcakes) says:

Love to be involved. Time to buy it and read it for my holiday.

  4. mike says:

Perhaps if men are interested in joining in, they could meet at same time but read a different book? I recognise the difficulty and the compromises in book choice that would need to be made to find books that both genders would be interested in reading. Let’s see how many men respond (none so far) – this may not be an issue at all.

  5. Gillian Griffiths says:

    Yes, please!
I’ve been searching and searching for a book group to join.
Off to the library as lunchtime.
    Looking forward to it.
    Gillian

I definitely want to be in on this! I tried to join a book club in TW a couple of years ago and was told it was full…

I’ll get the book and read it whilst I’m on holiday next week.

  7. Alix says:

Count me in. Book ordered and on its way. Hoorah.

I’d be interested in coming along… Living in Maidstone at the moment, but planning to move to the T Wells area in the next 6 months…

  9. @karen_kbhr says:

About half way through copy picked up from TW library, so should be done in good time for first gathering… and maybe return to library in time for someone else to borrow :)

  10. Anke says:

    Looking forward to it.

  11. I’m interested. Book downloaded and ready to go :)

  12. Joanne says:

I’d really like to be involved, as I’ve been looking for a book club in TW. However, I think it would be a bit tricky for me to read the book before Sep 13th. Please can you let me know which book you decide on for the next meeting as that will give me plenty of time to read it.
    Thanks a lot.
    Joanne
